Position yourself in the seat and fasten the seat belt. Raise and hold the seat swivel handle, then rotate the seat so that you are parallel to the rail (with your back against the stairway wall). Release the seat swivel handle to secure the seat in that position. A SAFETY SWITCH PREVENTS stair lifts FROM OPERATING UNLESS THE SEAT IS LATCHED IN POSITION (PARALLEL TO THE RAIL). Position both feet securely on the footrest and place your arms on the armrest cushions. The UP /DOWN rocker switch is located below the front end of the right armrest. Depressing and holding one end of the rocker control switch will cause the stair lift carriage to move in that direction. The carriage stops automatically at the upper or lower end of the rail or if the switch is released. Two (2) remote CALL/SEND control units enable you to “call” or “send” the carriage to/or from either end of the rail.
